Cerro El Copey
Cloud forest at nine hundred metres, on an island you thought was desert.

El Copey is the highest point on Margarita and the island’s biggest surprise. You set off from the valley among cactus and halfway up the landscape changes completely: ferns, moss, hanging bromeliads and mist. At the top it is genuinely cold. It is a national park, the trail is marked, and from the clearings you see the Caribbean on both sides at once.
