Pampatar bay is sheltered, shallow and has the whole postcard: the seventeenth-century fort on one side, the fishing boats on the other and the Caranta headland closing it off. Rentals go by the half hour or hour, with a quick briefing before you launch. It is one of the best options for people who do no sport at all and still want a hit of speed.
