The small fort that watched over the mouth of Pampatar bay from the headland.

On the headland closing Pampatar bay to the east stands the La Caranta fort, a lookout post that completed the harbour’s defences together with the castle below. It is small and takes minutes to see, but the view of the bay from above explains better than any sign why this harbour needed protecting.
