Playa Guacuco

Where the locals go: long, with waves gentle enough to learn on.

Best time

Duration
3–6 h

Guacuco is where islanders go at the weekend, which tells you most of what you need to know. It is long, has moderate surf, coconut palms and a row of shacks where you eat cheaply. The southern end is good for learning to surf: sand bottom and waves that do not intimidate.
