Coche island

Blinding white sand, postcard turquoise water and a pace from another century.

Duration
8–10 h

Coche is half an hour by ferry from Punta de Piedras and feels like another country. It has the whitest sand in the state, shallow water of a turquoise that does not look real, and a small community living off fishing and salt. It is also reliably windy, so it has become a kite destination for anyone wanting fewer people than El Yaque.
